A New Dashboard for KB Home
Simplifying the search for your dream home
Client: KB Home - one of the nation’s largest homebuilders
Role: UX, UI & Strategy
The Challenge
KB Home needed a personalized, self-service dashboard to guide customers through their home buying journey. The experience had to support viewing one-way messages, tracking progress (via a “subway map” concept), managing a wishlist, browsing available homes, and more - all while maintaining simplicity across devices.
What I Did
I led UX and UI design from concept to delivery, created KB Blueprints - a living design system used company-wide - and developed clean, intuitive flows for shopping, loan tracking, and real-time messaging.
We worked on UX flows and dashboards that guided users through their home buying journey. This annotated dashboard showcases how we balanced functionality and clarity - especially around complex features like the journey tracker, wishlist tools, and a context-aware feed.
Key Outcomes
The dashboard launch helped transform KB’s website from a generic lead-gen tool into a relationship-focused platform. Conversion on key funnel pages jumped by +45%, and the project’s success led directly to our follow-up engagement: designing KB’s native iOS app.
Reflection
This project truly lived up to KB Home’s own tagline - Built on Relationships. We developed a fantastic working relationship with the KB team, and collaborating with clients who value thoughtful design and user empathy made the experience especially rewarding.
